Introduced in 1956, the Mercedes 220 S Cabriolet was produced in limited numbers and finished by hand, which justified a price 75% above the 4-door version. Even so, it was one of the most desired cars of the time.
Equipped with a 2200cc inline 6-cylinder engine and dual Solex carburetors, the Mercedes 220 S Cabriolet had a construction quality well above average, not only in terms of luxury, but also in terms of materials.
The model we have available was sold in Caracas, Venezuela, to a German gentleman named Zingg, who owned, in addition to a beer and a maritime trade company, a Mercedes collection with all versions of the 300 SL. The car was initially delivered with a 2-tone paint job and an extensive list of optional equipment.
